I love salad and a good vinaigrette makes the difference:

Start with two parts oil for every one part vinegar. Taste, and adjust the proportions to satisfy your taste buds. Extra-virgin olive oil, toasted sesame oil, hazelnut oil, and walnut oil are all power-players in the world of taste, and you can get by with using much less oil while still adding superior flavor if you choose a bold one. To add that all-important zing to the dressing, try cider vinegar, balsamic vinegar, white wine vinegar, red wine vinegar, raspberry vinegar, or even lime or lemon juice. Whatever you use as the basis of your dressing, be sure to round it out with salt and pepper, a teaspoon of sugar for balance, and perhaps a dash of red pepper flakes, a little bit of crushed garlic, a dab of mustard, or anything else you think will make your vinaigrette distinctive.

You can buy the salad pre-washed at the supermaket.

Thanks for this CMO. For me making a vinaigrette is just exploring your taste. There's no right or wrong here, as long as it agrees with you and the crunch of the garden tossed.

My vinaigrette is a mix of olive oil, taragon vinegar, and balsamic. A little sugar, a little salt, a dash of basil, 1/2 teaspoon of butter 'optional' (salted or unsalted)- stir it and love it.

Thanks for this culinary tip, cmo! I've been looking for quite sometime a salad dressing that would match my favorite Greek salad. I eat it most of the time in restaurants but because of inflation I deemed it prudent to learn how to prepare it myself. That's why your post comes so timely and handy.:approve:

I love salad but haven't tried to make my own vinaigrette yet! I didn't know it's that simple to make one! :-(
