There is a common English word that is nine letters long. Each time you remove a letter from it, it still remains an English word - from nine letters right down to a single letter. What is the original word, and what are the words that it becomes after removing one letter at a time?:listening::flex:

:wowie:The base word is Startling - starting - staring - string - sting - sing - sin - in - I

Nice one, pollengrain and kai28. I had a hard time thinking of the answers hahaha

here's a tricky question my friend sent me:

One day after dinner, my uncle sat me down and began to tell me a tall tale. It seemed that there was once a minister who often fell asleep during Sunday services. One such Sunday, he nodded off and dreamt that he was in the middle of the French Revolution. In this dream he was one of the revolutionaries awaiting execution. His head was placed in the guillotine, and the blade was dropped. But just as it was about to hit, the minister's wife, noticing that he was asleep, stuck him in the back of the neck with a sewing needle to awaken him. The minister was so startled by this, he jolted awake and promptly died of a heart attack. So I ask you, was my uncle telling me the truth, or was he lying?

Thanks.

I can say he's lying. Why? At the first part of your story, you said that your uncle told you a tall tale. A tall tale is fictional. Though, correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks again alexus495! :c_o_o_l:

It's a lie. How can anyone know what happened in that dream when the man died before having the chance to tell anyone about it?

no it's not a lie 'coz when u analyze the story, although it's a dream or not, u would see that it's not a lie.

racz_jay25

He's telling a lie. How come they know the story if the man who dreamed about it was already dead?
