Words
Elegantly written words
Encrusting a love
That’s spelled to perfection;
Emotion craftily cupped,
Overflowing with devotion.
But between your lines
Are but empty promises;
The music that they impart
Is but a kindness that chills
Coming from a heart
That’s been frozen for years.

Dead End
I cannot pass through you
but I can make a way around you.
You deter my progress
but you cannot stop me.
You are the slow-down sign,
the check-your-way reminder
in disguise.
You are the detour arrow
That makes me try another road.
Like a hump,
you stand on my way
so that I may not go too fast.
So I step on the brakes
To re-examine my road map.
And I halt a moment
For a well-deserved rest.
You are a dead end.
But my trek does not end with you
nor am I dead because of you.
‘Coz I’ll find another way.
And I’ll walk on.

Thanks Cath!
Hmmm... I think I'd just make this thread somewhat like a blog... just post some of my scrawls for everyone to read. :-)

Love letter for MCP
I sing hymns of hope
At the top of my lungs
And beg the wings
Of the wind to carry
My songs and lay them
Neatly upon your heart;
I ask the eagles to fly
Across the horizons
To bring you my love —
Gentle as the breeze
Lovely as a dove.
I bare the contents
Of my heart to the
Sympathetic moon
and pray that she would
Show them to you
So you’d know
That as you swim the oceans
To capture my smile;
As you move the mountains
To reach for my hand;
I am trudging winding paths
Towards you, my love!

Oh my gosh, sherma! This one gives me the goose-bumps! Not that it's frightening! It's just so heart-melting (is there such a word?)!
:thankyou: Love this one! :LOVE0052:

Hi Cathy! Hi Patis!
MCP is my boyfriend. I wrote this poem sometime last year. He was confined in a Belgian hospital. I was feeling desperate. I wanted him to know I'm just here, loving him, praying for him. He's still sick, but I'm still writing poems for both of us... to keep us going.
:-)
Thanks to both of you.

Here's something for all coffeers! Wrote it at the start of the year....
AN OPEN LETTER TO HUMANITY
Dear Humanity,
I know that there are times when you think and feel that you are utterly alone; that no one cares. But that is not entirely true, you know that. Someone up there is always watching over you, crying with you as you shed your tears, and whose heart bleeds as yours break into pieces.
He would rather not put you through anything that would make you sad; He would rather carry your load than give so you much burden. If only it weren’t necessary that you must walk on unpaved roads strewn with humps and holes of different sizes and shapes; if only it weren’t important that you must stumble from time to time, He wouldn’t put you through things that would make you — and Him — cry.
But you must go through both good and seemingly bad things, my friend. You must sail on stormy seas so that you’d appreciate better the dawning of a sunny day and the sighting of an island. Like a clay pot that must be molded for it to be shaped, and fired for it to become strong, you must go through different challenges so that you might understand and grasp me.
I say it again: you are never alone. The Father above has sent me — among others — to be with you always, to walk with you in your every step, to guide you, to help you, to make you stronger, to keep you going.
Look at me, friend, for I am always with you, whether you see me or not, whether you choose to grasp me or not. I am in everything that happens in your life: in your every success and in your every failure. I am one of the reasons why things happen in your life; the answer to some of your questions. I am the reward that wipes off your tears, the gift that warms your heart.
Come, try to grasp me, my friend. Come, hold my hand. Do walk on. With me.
For I am,
Life’s Lessons

To the Storm that Past
You deployed the mightiest of your thunders and lightning
And sent not your soft and gentle, but your howling winds
And the rains, you encouraged to pelt with threatening hiss
Against everything that crosses their paths and strays in their midst.
Your thunders stubbed my soul; your lightning charred my heart
Your shrieking winds plunged me into spiraling oblivion
Your assailing rains drowned me into unfathomable depths
And left me staring wide eyed at the callousness of your rage.
But there is a part of me you did not manage to crumble
I am the tree, the structure you failed to tear apart;
My roots that are deep, my foundation that is strong
They stood against your might and defied your wrath.
You’ve left, leaving in your wake landslides and broken roads
And an ugly scar that would forever be etched in my soul.
But the sun, her rays are always a balm that heals
She now comes out smiling; everything will soon clear.
