Can you tell me why paper turns brownish as years pass by? And it even looks and smells burnt through the years?

oxidation. there is a substance in wood called lignin that reacts with the oxygen in air which gives it yellowish upon exposure. oxidation times depend on the quality of paper. see http://science.howstuffworks.com/question463.htm
