MAKATI CITY, METRO MANILA — Jumping into the growing tablet PC fray, Filipino branded PC company NEO (http://neo.com.ph/) is already gearing up to introduce tablet-type PCs perhaps sometime in the first half of 2011.
In an interview, Mutya Syling, NEO vice president for planning and operations said the tablet PC segment is a natural progression in the PC business, especially with the availability of wireless broadband Internet connectivity.
Syling said they have yet to decide what specific form factor would be used as well as the operating system for the tablet PC they will launch. She noted that it could either be Microsoft Windows Mobile, Google Android, or both.
Pricing is also under consideration. Syling said that they would focus on remaining competitively priced in this segment, just as it is with their other product lines.
“We’re looking at a number of specifications for our tablet PC but this particular business is quite promising,” said Syling.
Syling said the tablet PC could compete with the small form factor netbooks, which are just smaller versions of the regular laptop computers. However, users may have different needs and the netbook and tablet PC could still have secure markets.
NEO is celebrating its seventh year. After its official launch during the first Cyber Madness sale by the Philippine Long Distance and Telephone Company (http://www.pldt.com.ph/Pages/Home.aspx) (PLDT), the company has already introduced several dozen models of low-cost notebooks and netbooks, though they have also “fashion” units for the high-end market.
Some of their devices are priced about 10 to 15 percent lower than most brands.
The company also launched its NEO Care service centers in the Philippines, which promises same-day support and service.

Nice to here Filipinos trying to innovate things. I think the hardest part that these guys would come across is branding their product. Usually people look for a high branded product when going for a high end technology products.

Anyway my wishes and congrats to Filipinos :happy0069:
