View Full Version : Who's From Marikina and Nearby Towns?
Maybe we could setup a recurring EB maybe once a week, twice.. once a month...
just a small coffee talk every whatever(sunday morning? with newspaper sharing?)
There are a lot of small coffee places here in marikin which could be more accomodating than their bigger branches.....
Please help me organize this...
So that we can also practice spoken english!
RULE: as english-coffee = written english only ; EB = spoken english only...
(I just remembered a famous call center posting... EOP = English Only Policy)

Good idea, Jason! :music-smiley-7524:
I live near Marikina, but I play badminton on Sunday mornings, so it's not possible for me to join.
How about setting it up on another day, say Saturday? :coy:
I work on saturdays... evening coffee is nice too but im thinking of the traditional way of drinking a good cup of cofffee...
Morning - Newspapers - Cigars - Chat - Welcome Sunshine!
but its your call as long as the time permits many of us if not all....
Be it.. anytime! anyday! just not anywhere - I dont intend to go far away from home since I just had a baby... maybe later on we can mark that place/coffe shop/tree our own official tambayan...
It's up to you, Jason! :Bear Smiley 6030:
I understand you, as I also like having a good cup of coffee in the morning with ciggies! When I have time, I'd like to join! ^^
This is gonna be exciting for everybody! :music-smiley-7524:

Hey Jason, nice project! If you don't have a domain supplier yet, please consider getting from Greymatter Unlimited, Inc. (http://greymatterunlimited.com) (our partner). It's P500/yr (C/N/O) :thanks:
thanks cmo! ill try to get it from them... i may be able to afford it...
I was just thinking of you AYUMIE... marikina.... Riverbanks.. nice place ... coffee , heavenly !!
hmmmm... !!!!
'elen are you from marikina too?
'elen hugs my amiga , yes i can already smell the coffee. :coffeedrink:
'elen is in new york ... she comes to visit once a year sometimes even twice if work permits ... we stroll around riverbanks when she's here . :dance3:
Jason my other amigas , veron and lai can join us for EBs but it would have to be later in the day because veron will come from pasay and lai from los banos . i can ask them to sleep over my place so we can meet in the morning. how i wish LitaPo can come too ... but naga is too far.
wow! too good for us then.... how is the coffee at cordillera's? have worked at ICT but i didnt took a taste of their mountain coffee thingies..
a friend who tasted cordillera coffee in baguio asked me to have coffee there when she treated another friend who came from china ... whew excuse for the 'other friend thing ' ... let me try again... :coffee1:
maya tasted cordilliera coffee when she attended a seminar in baguio ...when dodong came to visit she invited us to have coffee and cake after dinner at cordillera 's in front of ICT right ? i found their coffee good and the mango cake delicious ... both taste like homemade which is really what we are looking for and not as expensive as in figaro . :there:
Hi Jason...I used to live there in Marikina before we transfered here in Pasay... I still love going back to that place...hence am often visiting my friend, Ayumie.
wow! when did you transfer? have you visited marikina lately? lots of things are happening each day... more improving as it is... its a great city for me.. and i'm so proud to be marikenyo... well you could probably be a marikenyo by heart even though you don't live here anymore...
im gonna bump this thread up

That is a splendid idea. My only problem is that I usually wake up 11 am on Sundays.
www.marikinavalley.com (http://www.marikinavalley.com) is doing great. we just had our first EB - not so successful here. MV is having a great start in terms of membership.... I just hope it stays above par as it is now.

I read this thread rather late but this highlights the feasibility of an English Coffee Shop. If we don't exploit the increasing popularity of EC someone else is bound to do. Aside from EB's members can standby there to give paid tutorials thus providing extra income and helping others learn English at the same time.
We can also promote coffee products of the Malaybalay monks, Batangas and Amadeo farmers and thereby help in their livelihood. The possibilities are endless and if we pursue it we'll be surprised how successful it can be. I remember in my college days when Jollibee started as a small burger shop in Cubao and now see how big it has grown.
So, common everybody think about it and be called a stockholder of English Coffee Shop, Inc.:)
this is a splendid idea....:gud: am willing to help as much as i could. Am truly a Marikenya by heart
for your information, Ayumie and i are event planners... :)
we won't be charging you to start the ball rolling...
event planners? hehe I too was once an event organizer for pulp magazine and colt 45.. Im sure you get a lot out of your jobs...
Actually Im planning to setup an event for marikina and my website but im not yet thinking of outsourcing the planning... ill consider you in my thoughts.... anyway its always nice to know that your willing to help.. and even free hehe..
do you handle marketing? ads?

:thankyou: This is a very good idea pinoypower! :groove: I've had the same idea of having an English Coffee Shop, but I haven't really put that much thought into it because I am stuck with my thesis and I just want to get that one out of the way before I do another thing. ^^ (I'm not really that very good in multi-tasking. LOL)
I'll keep your suggestions in mind and who knows? Things may start rolling for EC!

I just met Chris of AIEPro yesterday... his school is so cool - its like no other... maybe more of what Ive experienced during call center training - all fun, you learn without even knowing it... he also got a lot of students coming in everyday, I suggest we all try to visit his place someday to see how things are done there.... Chris?
