EPONYMS are words taken from names of a real, fictional, mythical or spurious character or person.

e.g.
Nike is the name of the Greek goddess of victory called “Victoria” by the Romans.

Adidas is fashioned from the name Adi Dassler, a German manufacturer who in 1948 founded the company that produces the athletic equipment, especially footwear and garments.
