The books of my fave author, Paulo Coelho, never cease to amaze me. When I started reading the Zahir, I got the feeling that I was watching a movie of the author's life. I felt the same way while reading the Pilgrimage and the Valkyries. His sheer honesty, openness, and captivating use of words and thoughts make his life stories simply engaging!

I've read some of his books as well. The Witch of Portabello, Veronika Decides to Die, The Zahir, and The Devil and Miss Prym I liked the last one best.

Yeah, I like The Devil and Miss Prym, too! I like it because it tackles the basic choices each one of us has: good and evil. And how the choices we make affect our lives. Also, the twists in the story are well developed! You can never guess what will happen next in such jaw-dropping situations!

The first book I read is The Pilgrimage which I got for free at a book fair a couple of years ago and which I never really had that much enthusiasm to read. Finally, I decided I would read it and voila!!! What an amazing and engaging story it was! I like the simplicity of how he reveals his philosophy. This book made me curious about Paolo Coelho and I just went gaga over getting all his books! :smilie1:

Then I read The Alchemist... I tell you, this one is a MUST READ!!! It is just so beautiful, INSIGHTFUL and INSPIRING!!! Then there's Eleven Minutes which is just shocking and yet comforting. It has made me understand the plight and 'the person' of the character and her profession. That is also a MUST READ!

I am still reading The Zahir (which I think exists in your avatar) :wink1:. IThe only one I have not read is the latest, The Witch of Portabello. Is it nice? I'll be reading it during the semestral break.

I find almost all his other books very insightful, and for daily reflections, I recommend Like the Flowing River and The Warrior of Light. However, I 've found The Valkyries a little bit dragging.

Cheers! :tongue1: :drummer:

The Witch of Portabello is nice and there's an unexpected twist.

Those books belong to my sister, I bought them for her when she visited NY last May.
I read her books before she went back to the Philippines. She also likes Paulo Coelho very much.

There was something depressing about The Zahir but I can't quite put a finger on it.
Hahaha, you noticed it! She was my Zahir, I couldn't think of any pic to put for my avatar.

Thanks for the recommendations, i'll try to look it up. Btw, I get my books from The Strand, it's a bookstore in NYC. You can order it online and their prices are cheap compared to other bookstores. :)
