Is there anyone here who knows something about the International Benchmark Test in English being given by the Australian Council for Educational Research? Is it given in Philippine schools? The reason why I'm asking is because my thirteen year-old son got an award of excellence, a certificate of honor and a cash prize for topping the test given late last year and released last week. My son obtained 100 percentile rank for his school, 100% for Middle East region and 100% for international which means he bested all third year students from around the world who took this IBT. I want to quantify the relative importance of his achievement with regards to Philippine standard in preparation for his college education. Thanks in advance.

The ACER test is a student assessment test aimed to give feedback on student performance. The test is based on international norms.
As far as I know, it is used for research and international benchmarking. So, this does not necessarily mean that the test will be administered in Philippines schools on a regular basis.
The test can help you determine your son's level of achievement (in his case, he has surpassed the third year high school benchmark. remarkable!).
With regard to relative importance, well, your son took a test that not all Filipinos took. But the test was administered all around the world, so he was part of a random sample taken from all around the world for scientific educational research based in Australia.
So... this is a relatively BIG accomplishment! Congratulations pinoypower! Go ahead and show off that certificate. You have every right to!
