here is a text message sent to me by a friend which i really liked:

the parable of the pencil
by Paulo Coelh

the pencil maker told the pencil 5 things

1 what is important is inside you

2 whatever you do you will leave a mark

3 you will be able to correct the mistakes that you've done

4 you will encounter painful sharpening in life that would make you a better pencil

5 always remember that there is a Hand that guides you

i found one in the net that is similar to this but the writer modified it:

may i add (i just thought these up):

i'm sure there are people out there who wish they are as thin as that pencil (the mongol kind, not those thick pencils for first graders).
and also, you can only be able to correct your mistakes if you use your head. or rely on experts.
the more you speak (or write), the blunter you get.
the sharper you are, the shorter your life.
a great deal about you is just shaving.
your cousin (the pen) is mightier than the sword.
if you were written on the wrong paper, your message will quickly fade away.
speak too hard and you will punch holes on the paper.
you can be used to poke people.
your words may hurt others. be gentle in speech.
pencils come in different colors and sizes and types each with its own use. find your niche and you'll be perfect.
your heart is almost always mistaken for lead. it is graphite.

well, that's all i can think of for now....

This parable should be read by all, especially people in powerful positions.
