What book are you reading right now, and why did you pick it up?
Right now, I am reading "Looking at the Sun: The Rise of the New East Asian Economic Political System" by James Fallows.
I'm reading it because I found it on my bed (someone left it there) and I thought, "what the heck?"

I'm almost done reading Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis because a colleague of mine suggested that it would be a good read for me.
Well, it has turned out pretty good! I'd definitely recommend it because it's a very practical and philosophical way of looking at Christianity and Life! :superhappy:
By the way, :thanks: Maria_Maria for this good idea!!

Yeah, I agree. The Little Prince is one of my favorite books of all time, if not my favorite. It seems simple enough but there's always an incredible new insight every time you read it, and the meaning somehow adapts to whatever it is you're going through. Beautiful book!
Another book that has the same effect is "Oh, The Places You'll Go" by Dr. Seuss
Right now I'm reading a book written by Umberto Eco titled "A Paso de Cangrejo"... I'm not sure of what the English translation would be... maybe something like "Walking at a crab's pace (rythm)" :sowhat:... I don't recommend it, it's boring :zzzzzz:

I love this book! I've read it in spanish, french and english... Doesn't matter how many times you read it, you always take out something new :okay:
I'm reading Memoirs of my Melancholy Whores by Gabriel Garcia Marquez right now.
Its a very short book and its been an easy and very enjoyable read so far. Its about this old man who wants to have sex with a virgin on his 90th birthday. hehehe. It sounds really pervy but its really not, the book truly shows what a genius Garcia Marquez is. :applaud:

I must have a read of that to appreciate how genius he is because from my point of view, that's rather perverted. :tease:

Yeah, I've read it. I can't believe how popular it is. I think I received four copies of The Purpose Driven Life in just one year!
I'm just started to read "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" by Robert Kiyosaki and Sharon Lechter.
It teaches financial lessons...
:gud:
yeah i know the plot sounds rather pervy, but its really not! hehehe. The author's ability to make a novel with a pervy-sounding plot become a masterpiece is what makes him a genius! Just like Paolo Coelho in Eleven Minutes. The protagonist of the novel was a prostitute and the novel dealt with rather pervy topics too, but Coelho was able to produce a magnificent book out of it.

Eleven Minutes is one of my favorites! Yeah, but I guess everyone here has figured that out by now. Btw, I'm reading Catcher in the Rye for the nth time. Just saw it on my shelf and decided to read it again. It never gets old. hehehe.
Does any one here like Catcher as much as I do?

We just had a novel analysis in our lit. class for joy luck club. It's really great, try watching its movie, they're just the same. Amy Tan is great, in fact, if you'll research her background, you'll find out that the story of Jing-Mei is a bit similar to her life story... :)
Im currently reading For One More Day by Mitch Albom.. Pretty interesting!

I am reading The Witch of Portobello by Paulo Coelho. I enjoy reading his collection. This book is different because it is written through the eyes of the people who knew the main character. I have just started, so I hope I can appreciate it even more! :Cat Smiley 6111:

"Incubus"

I loke to read horror books. That is the only reason of selecting this book
Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick.
I saw a review of the book in a newspaper and quite curious by the cover and the story of a fallen angel and sacrifice he needed to be done to get his wings back.
I just finished reading half of the book and I must say, I am completely fallen for Patch. :Bear Smiley 6030:

You should try Windows of the Soul by Ken Gire. It gives us a new perspective on how to approach God, how to enhance our faith and how to love others. Windows of the Soul is deeply inspiring.

Right now I’m reading an interesting novel called “At the Sign of the Sugared Plum" by Mary Hooper. I really enjoyed reading it. It’s quite different from other books I have read before. Basically I love to read Mary Hooper’s publishers. That is the main reason to pick this book.
