Here's a phrase that I often see and hear misused. FILL UP. :embarassed1:
Do we fill up forms? Or do we fill up our gas tanks?
The answer is.... pals, we FILL UP OUR GAS TANKS!!! Why?
Okay, here's the deal...
FILL UP - fill something completely with gasoline, water, coffee, etc.
e.g. I had my tank filled up just last week. Now it's almost gone! What's wrong with this car?
FILL OUT - write information in a form (e.g. application forms, bio-data)
e.g. Those who enrol have to fill out admission forms.
FILL IN - complete a sentence by writing in a blank.
e.g. Please fill in the blanks with the appropriate answer.
So the next time you see those forms.... FILL THEM OUT! :smilie3:
