Must is a modal that expresses obligation (necessity), among others.

e.g. Korean men must undergo military training.

What is the past form of the modal must?

a) might
b) had to
c) have to

have to is the other form but it's in present tense

might - expresses possibilities

May I add something about the use of modal 'must'?

'Must" is often used to express certainty.

Ex. This must be her lost bag!

It is also used to express recommendation;

Ex. You must take some days off and attend to your personal problems.

or used to express necessity.

Ex. Commuters must follow traffic rules at all times.

To strongly prohibit someone, "must" can be used.

Ex. You must not speak ill of others.

If you don't want to sound too harsh or too strong in trying to discourage someone from doing something, you may opt to use "should not" or "ought not."

Ex. You should not make fun of the elderly.
You ought not smoke too much.
