Morse code has been very helpful and useful in the past for being the most efficient in transmitting and receiving information and for reaching out the farthest area of the planet earth.

Despite all the high tech communications nowadays, it's very delightful to be able to communicate with people far away especially when you are using a very low tech and low wattage QRP.

I don't know much about morse codes except that interesting sound it makes and the important role it has played in the communication system long time ago.

This type of key is not used much. It requires a good wrist. Amateur radio veterans may have some of these stuff.

In my time I built something similar to the one below. We call iambic key pad making the speed much faster. I built a circuit that simulates the sounds (short and long) and connected to the iambic key pad:

In electronic shops you can find iambic key pads with the adjustment of speed and tone.

Yes, it's all coded. There is the international Q code used not only by morse code but in voice mode. Here are some:

QSL- I acknowledge receipt QSL?Do you acknowledge?

QRV - I am ready to copy QRV? Are you ready to copy?
QRL - The frequency is in use QRL? Is the frequency in use?
QTH - My location is... QTH? What is your location?


The numerical codes:

2 - Very Important.
3 - What time is it?
4 - Where shall I go ahead?
5 - Have you business for me?
6 - I am ready.
7 - Are you ready?
8 - Close your key, stop breaking.
9 - Priority business. Wire Chief's call.
10 - Keep this circuit closed.
12 - Do you understand?
13 - I understand.
14 - What is the weather?
15 - For you and others to copy.
