Since gerunds function as a noun, we use it as the subject of our statement.
e.g.
Sailing is Devin's all-time hobby.
Reading Nancy Drew series interests the young Joan.
SAILING here is the subject of the sentence. If you notice the verb used is 'IS' which is SINGULAR, right?
We use singular verbs when the subject is a gerund.
Singing makes many people enjoy their parties. :drummer:
Singing and dancing are two of the common activities while partying in the Philippines. :groove:
