BUSINESS ENGLISH EXPRESSIONS

PUT BACK
To put something back is to reschedule it to a later time or date. This is similar to postpone and put off.
Opposite: move forward or move up.

UP IN ARMS ABOUT / OVER
Used to express that you are very angry about it , and are ready to take action. “Arms” here is used in the sense of “weapons.”

ON THE Q. T.
The abbreviation ‘q. t.’ means secretly without telling people. More commonly used in spoken English. Q. T. comes from “quiet.”
On the q.t. means something is done secretly or quietly.

I wasn't familiar with two of these either,

on the q.t. and up in arms over,

so it was beneficial to read this

Hi People!

Happy to join this group. I'm a newbie and hope members will welcome me with an open arms. The reason of joining this is to to further enhance my English communication skills and to find friends who will kindly share their knowledge about business writing. For your information, I am a marketing person who usually communicates to clients in writing and of course, I don't want to be looked at as dumb because of my writing skills.

So to all of my new found friends, please help me improve my writing skills by giving me techniques, formats, advise, and websites which I can view to further improve my writing.

Again thank you so much and hoping to find new friends and to help others.

Adios:DANCER:
