It is a prevalent opinion that literature is like all arts is mere play of
imagination, pleasing enough like a new novel without any serious or practical importance. Nothing could be farther from the truth, Literature preserves the ideals of a people and these ideal are love, faith, duty, friendship, freedom and reverence which are the part of human life most worthy of preservation.
Lastly in summary we can say Literature is the expression of life in words of truth and beauty, it is the written record of man's spirit of his thoughts, emotions, aspirations, and it is the history and only the history of the human soul having characteristics of its artistic quality, its suggestiveness and its permanent qualities which will never fade.

Thanks for pointing these all out... it shows us that studying literature will teach us the art of using words to express life and also to to give us some refinements in our characters, Isn't this so?

very well said skykeeper,,
you have a very brilliant idea of explaining this.
i ask this because i am one of those who hate literature subjects... he he he.. because literature sounds boring to me and it feels like it is a never ending reading and criticizing of ones work. i hate criticizing other people work because i want freedom..
i want everybody to feel free to read, to study what he wants and write and say all the things in his mind.
i always respect other peoples opinion although most of the time i dont agree with them. i keep my mouth shut. and smile at them.
studying literature is different
its not fun for me :smilie3: i wanted to read them simply because im hearing their ideas but just like that i dont want more. i guess this is also what other student feels.
what do you think? how can a teacher help a student like me? i wanted to be a teacher but not in literature,, cause im afraid students will hate me too.
what can you say?

thanks again.
