Here are some suggestions to help you keep the weight off that you've worked hard to lose, courtesy of the American Heart Association:

1. Understand what works best for you - such as what rewards best motivates you, what tempts you most, and what helps you resist those temptations.

2. Be realistic about how much weight you should lose.

3. Maintain good balance of calories taken in versus calories burned.

4. Ge enough exercise. Even a brisk daily walk can help you keep those pounds off.

5. Keep notes and records of your food intake and daily activity.

6. Plan you meals and make healthy food choices at the grocery.

7. Don't weigh yourself more than once a week.

8. Plan ahead for holidays, special occasions, and other times when you may be likely to splurge and take in additional calories.

Losing weight is a challenge, but keeping it off can even be more difficult wihout a good plan.

Balance your food choices over time. Not every food has to be perfect.
Remember to look at the big picture. Select foods based on your total eating patterns, not whether any individual food is "good" or "bad." Remember that healthy eating does not come down to what you ate today or yesterday. Instead, it's about your overall eating habits and the amounts and types of foods that you usually eat.
Use flavouring to spice up food. There are many ingredients such as garlic, lemon juice, herbs, onion, pepper and other spices that can add zest and flavour to your food.

Losing weight is a decision. You have to decide how you will do it. If there's a specific diet or product you plan to take do research on it before you indulge in it. Make sure products or programs are backed by years of ongoing research, formulated or designed by health experts, and have a good track record. And if you do decide to use any specific diet program, you have to be committed to it in order to prove its effect on your body.


When I decided to lose weight two months ago, I was so into it. I'm proud to say, I lost 10 unwanted pounds in just two months! I'm still trying to lose some more. I feel light, energetic and full of life! Just recently, I bought new jeans, size 25". I feel great!!! But more importantly, gone are the numb finger joints and back pains.


Becoming fit and healthy is not just about losing weight. It is cleansing the body for better nutrient absorption and providing the body proper nutrients and raw materials. As I've mentioned before, the body is a great healer. Provide it with a proper, balanced diet and a variety of healthy, (as much as possible) chemical-free, natural if not organic food, plus lots of clean water and enough sleep, then your body will heal itself and be able to protect itself from any disease. Actually, losing weight or gaining pounds is just a plus. It's just one of the manifestations of a healthy, balanced diet. Other bonuses are added vitality, stamina, strength, stronger immune system, youthfulness and longevity.


I believe that there is no such thing as one diet-fits-all. Our bodies have different needs and react at certain levels. Exercise cannot replace diet. Even if you exercise a lot but still indulge in poor eating habits, your goal, which is become fit and healthy, is far from being achieved. Questions like "Why am I not losing weight?" or "Why do I feel tired after exercising instead of being energized?" are common. Maybe the answer is eating habits.

I just want to add that if you do dieting the wrong way like skipping meals or indulge in diets such as "skyflakes" (crackers) diet, diet pills, etc, instead of losing fats, your body, which is very intelligent, will start storing fats and will start getting mass from your muscles because it is being deprived of the necessary nutrients it needs. This can be dangerous. : (

Some people may be successful in losing weight this way but along along with the fats body mass is lost as well. : (
