The pay.
I have worked for two callcenters, one year for each. The pay is definitely tempting. With the first one, I'm paid 15,000 a month and I was a college undergraduate back then!
A year after, I got an offer for a starting salary of 20K plus 2K night differential, plus the chance to earn commissions. But then again, money is not all that matters. ;)
And of course, the chance to be on equal footing with people from different backgrounds, be it licensed proffessionals, Ph.D. and M.A. degree holders. The working population is as diverse as it can possibly be. ^^
aside from the pay, it's the satisfaction one would feel after solving your caller's concern. especially if they were initially irate when you received their call. and when they tell you that you speak english very well and when they learn that you're from a foreign land and have not gone to the US they won't believe you coz you sound like an american! it's not that i'm ashamed i'm a filipino or anything. it's just that what most american callers think of filipinos is that we're stupid and we can barely speak english. and it's just flattering when they tell you that you sound like an american.
check the new thread i started for call center bloopers

i'm happy you & your officemates enjoyed them. if ever you want to try to work in a call center i suggest that you don't start with a financial account especially if it's a foreign account. it's really stressful and you might regret trying this industry but i must say that you'll be well compensated for handling a financial account.
i suggest that you start off with an easy account.. maybe start with directory assistance or something similar to that. from what i hear, for directory assistance you'll earn at least Php 14,000 a month!

the fast movement -- CSR for 2 months, trainer for another 6 months, supervisor after a year, now a manager :)
of course, you need to have, not only the right skills, but also, the right work ethic (meaning, being on call for 24/7)
