Hi minifox!
you use i am happy when you are using the present tense. Talking about your present feeling.
you use i was happy when you are talking about your past feeling; like : I was happy to see my friend yesterday.

we don't use did happy.
hope i was of any help...

Hi minifox! Number 2 is almost correct but you need an article before the word 'message'.

The correct form should be: Did you leave a message?

Did is already the past form of the verb 'do' so you need to use the base form of the main verb 'leave' (which is 'leave') and not its past form (left).

The following is a basic form and an example of asking questions that refer to actions that happened in the past:

Form:
Did + I / he / she / it / we / you / they / Anna + base form of the verb + a /an / the + noun / pronoun.

Example:

Did Anna finish the report?
