We have two voices in English: the active voice and the passive voice. :there:
When we use the Active Voice our focus is on the doer of the action.
e.g. Jasmine investigated the crimes in her municipality.
(the focus here is on 'Jasmine')
In the Passive Voice, the focus is on the receiver of the action. This takes the form: BE + PAST PARTICIPLE.
e.g. The crimes were investigated by Jasmine in her municipality.
(the focus here is 'on the crimes')
