Anyone a member of Toastmasters here?
I've been a member of Toastmasters for nearly three years and it has been great. Yes, it's like having a workout facility for public speaking and presentations complete with an audience.
It's a hobby that is fit for members of this website. As a hobby, think of it as simply an outlet for expression and it's really fun and it is not just for practicing your English. I am not really afraid of boo-boos because it's simply okay to make such mistakes and learn from them with Toastmasters. It is also entertainment as I watch others do their thing. Yep, it's like watching American Idol but this is for people who can't sing and dance. Or going to a comedy club. I take pleasure in seeing some of the members progress into better speakers and presenters.
I also get to party and meet lotsa people. I only have to pay the membership fee for one club and I get visit or, in Toastmasters lingo, clubhop to several other Toastmasters clubs in Metro Manila. I also have privileges to hop to clubs throughout the country and the entire planet.

I've met some Toastmaster members and they are confident speakers. I like your hobby.
Given enough time, I'd like to be a member, too. :rythm:

This is interesting. I checked the site and the locations here in Metro Manila. There are many groups and different schedule for meetings. I will see if I can contact one of them.

Toastmasters is not only in English. We also do have sessions in Mandarin since the 21st century is widely regarded as the Chinese Century. (20th is the American Century and 19th is the British Century).
For me, it's not enough just to be fluent in English, you gotta be able to read, write and speak Chinese too. It's not that difficult. There are free lessons you can get on the 'net. I will announce our Mandarin sessions next week.
