Whatever is the difference?
According to Michael Swan in Practical English Usage:
HOLIDAY
- normally used for a short period, say, one or two days; can also be used for longer period, but not common.
e.g. We had a holiday last Friday.
HOLIDAYS
- used for a longer period.
e.g. We will have the holidays in three weeks' time.
