This is how we use depend on in a sentence:
A: What time will we get there?
B: I don't know. It depends on the traffic.
She depends on her parents for money.
or: She relies on her parents for money.
or: She lives on her parents.
And this is how we can omit the use of preposition on with the verb depend:
depend + question words such as what, when, where, how, etc. As in:
A: Are you going to buy this ring for me?
B: It depends on how much it costs. or, It depends how much it costs.
