Hi everyone! I'd just like to share my food blog with you. It's called The Diabetes Lunchbox. And as you might have guessed, I was just recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes (bummer!) so I started this blog to share my experiences trying contain my condition. The recipes you'll find are low in carbohydrates and ideal for diabetics. But you don't have to be diabetic to try them out.
You'll find my blog here: http://thediabeteslunchbox.blogspot.com
I hope you guys can drop in and leave comments so I know you visited!
Maria_maria, thanks for the Diabetes Lunchbox! I have family members & relatives who are diabetic. I'll share the information with them.

Thanks! Since starting the blog and consciously modifying my diet, I have been keeping my blood sugar in control. I can't wait to get tested in January (that's when my doc said I should return)

:thanks: for the info, Maria!
I am learning how to cook and I would like to try your "lovely yellow." I've heard about the many health benefits of "kalabasa" and I can't wait to try this Squash Soup.:DANCER:

Thanks! I'm sure you'll love it if you like kalabasa. My younger brother can't get enough of the stuff. I make it in big batches and freeze single serving packets. If anyone wants soup, we just take a packet and heat it over a stove. It's such a time saver!

By the way, squash makes great baby food! Just lay off on the salt and other strong flavored ingredients. :)

I'll do just that!
I want to make my own baby food with fruit and veggies, so my baby can be healthy and hopefully, will love eating veggies in the future! :D
:thanks: again, Maria!

Hey there, maria. Pumpkin soup is my favorite. Koreans have a different way of preparing it. My former homestay mom always cooked it for me.
Now that I live alone, I cook it myself. I also use pumpkin for cooking bean paste soup. They say these two dishes are very healthy and good for slimming.

For a precaution, ctivnan. Kalabasa is perfect but don't give much to Chiara. Maybe, once a week would be fine. It is a slimming vegetable. I discovered this when my granddaughter ate a lot of it and she was a bit thin, although healthy. I read in the Health Frontier that it is good for slimming. When I told her mom to lessen the quantity that she usually prepared, it simply worked. Now, she's chubby and so huggable at her age. I see her on webcam at least once a week and I miss her. :LOVE0089:

Wow! I'm just learning new things left and right today!
It's good to know that squash has slimming properties. Nature TRULY has a cure for just about EVERYTHING! But diabetics should still be warned: count your carbohydrates.
I found a website that helps you check the nutrients in practically all the foods you eat -- it's actually where I got the information about squash. It's valuable for weight watchers, calorie counters, or just about anyone who wants to make sure they're eating a balanced diet. You can find it here: http://www.fitday.com
