I've just arrived home from the benefit concert given for Mang Tero.

I must say that very many Stellans LOVE Mang Tero, for there were so many people who attended this cause including the FMM sisters, and other earlier alumnae (i.e. 1979 something).

I was particularly touched when Mang Tero's wife stood there in front and with her voice cracking, stifling her tears, shared that she was not ready for this unfortunate event in their family and thanked all the Stellans for all their help and for this benefit concert. She apologized for having to leave very early because Mang Tero, who is in critical condition, right after being operated from brain tumor, has a fever. Finally, she asked all of us for prayers.

Everyone was so quiet when she spoke and I was in tears because I remember how Mang Tero cared for me, by making sure I was all right to go home and he smiled every time I arrived in school, early or late. He never threatened or shouted at me or the other students for being naughty, instead he would talk with us like we were his kids and tried to make us understand why we were not permitted to go out any time we wanted to. ^^ That made truancy impossible in Stella Maris during our days.

He was our Cambridge-gate guard, but for me, he was a father and a friend. I have never forgotten him and his warm and caring smile. The news came as a shock for me. I just saw him last March while driving along Cambridge at midnight and I stopped to say hi to a good old friend.

Whether you are Stellans or not, I ask you to please pray for his condition and donate for his hospital expenses. Stella Maris High School principal is taking care of the donations. You can get in touch with Stella Maris College, Quezon City for more information.

I never met Mang Tero and I'm not a Stellan but I noticed that he was loved by the students. Aside from our prayers let's see how we can help him and his family.
