In the Philippines there are many universities/Colleges. But when the discussion is about being worst, no university wants to be mentioned.
In some forums, the issue is really hot and gets the inner anger out of the persons.
We hope this thread can help pinpoint weaknesses in universities/colleges and help them improve those areas.
In a post in www.gov.ph, the poster opened a thread with the following list of worst universities/colleges:
1) Adamson
2) La Salle System
3) UE
4) PUP
5) Lyceum
6) Letran
7) CEU
8) San Sebastian
9) PCU
10) ADMU
11) NU
12) UST
13) UP system
14) FEU
15) San Beda
So, you can imagine the reaction, especially from the Adamsonians... they almost "killed" the thread starter, he he
In this thread you can mention poor universities that need improvement and in what particular areas need special attention.
No throwing stones please. Respect each ones opinions! Of course please present verified sources as much as possible.

Thanks for the information, CMO!
I am sad that the poster mentioned UP. :ouch: I wonder what made him/her have that kind of opinion. Somehow though, I can guess...
The University of the Philippines (UP) is a state university known for its goal of EXCELLENCE! The university has produced many top leaders in the country and is also dedicated to RESEARCH, especially in UP Los Banos. It may not be as strong as the ones Oxford, or Harvard has, but it is, if not the only one, one of the few universities in the country that is research-oriented. In terms of INSTRUCTION, many professors here hold Doctor's degree and the young ones, Master's. Having these is not enough, as they are required to also have researches and publications in journals which are in the top citation indices. Finally, in its approach to excellence, UP gives students and professors alike, a venue for sharing and more learning outside class, and that is - EXTENSION. There are a number of conferences for development in UP. In the College of Education alone, we usually have more than five seminars in a semester from different departments. At the end of every semester, the Department of Curriculum Studies have a whole day seminar where graduate students in almost all EDCS classes participate as lecturers/speakers. Aside from these, We even have ACLE (Alternative Classroom Learning Experience), one day per semester where you can go and learn something in different fields. Experts in their fields are invited to share for about an hour or two, depending on the topic of discussion. The university circles usually organize these, and I really enjoy the experience because I get to know more of other fields, ask questions, share insights, and meet new people! :laugh1:
In terms of facilities, we are kind of poor. Since it is a state university that has always been kind of an "activist," the budget for the school has always been cut to less and less these past few years. In UP Diliman, classrooms need multimedia facilities, more lights (just recently, anticipating the Centennial anniversary, we have more street lights around), better college canteens/variety stores, dorms need renovating, facilities are old, and so on. Though these may be physical, they also need addressing, as it may help in increasing the standard of teaching and learning quality.
In spite of these limitations, UP, as is known throughout the country and abroad, provides QUALITY education as it embodies the three functions of Higher Education - RESEARCH, INSTRUCTION, and EXTENSION. And in choosing where to have your studies, these are the three aspects you should definitely consider!
Well, at the end of the day, there's just no perfect college or university. :first: What do you need perfection for, anyway? Having a bit of flaws can help us to discover more, learn more, and do better! :bravo: For me, that's what education is for - the unending quest for knowledge and truth.
