Chew gum when fighting urges. Do you really want to go down to the kitchen and indulge in a bag of Cheetos? Instead, pop your fave flavor of gum into your mouth. Try to make sure its sugarless, sugared gum can cause cavities and usually has more calories then the sugar-free. Plus, sugar-less gum tastes as good as the sugared! There are also some gum that whitens your teeth, so you'll be fit and have beautiful white teeth in no time!
Get rid of all unhealthy snacks in your house so you won't have to fight them. This includes chips, cookies, etc. Anything over 200 calories per serving and more than 5 grams of fat. Don't worry, there are plenty of delicious, low calorie options at the supermarket, you just have to look for them. They're coming out with more of these "diet items" since obesity is becoming such a problem. And once you've gotten rid of the bad guys, don't buy them again! If it helps, have someone else do grocery shopping for you so you aren't urged to buy that bag of Oreos.
While at home, stay as far away from the kitchen as possible. I find when I'm upstairs or anywhere far away from the kitchen I find that I don't snack as much as when I'm lounging in the living room. Since it's right near the kitchen, I always find the urge to go raiding the cupboards and eat everything in sight. Try to stay far away from the kitchen except at meal times!
Change the channel, or look away if a cooking show or advertisement for food comes on. The pictures will make your brain think you are hungry, which will result in snacking.
Chew your food many times when eating a meal since it will make you more full. You could also try taking a sip between every bite, or putting down your fork and knife between every bite.
Learn to love! Start eating plenty of healthful fruits and veggies. Believe it or not, eating items a lot can train your taste buds to like them!:applaud:
