Badminton is also considered a gentlemen's sport. It encompasses honesty and sincerity while playing the game. A few points I want to share for the benefit of the new players are as follows:
1. While playing, there are times that we hit the opponent with the shuttle in his or her body. We should always apologize to the person as a sign of respect.
2. There are times that when we take a shot, the shuttle hit's the top part of the net and tumbles over to the opponent's side. I usually apologize also because it is not intentional and pure luck that the bird went in.
3. As much as possible, avoid boastful comments towards your opponents. Unlike basketball wherein trash talk is always used, badminton requires concentration for each play. You might never know if your opponent is "pikon". Get the picture?
4. Enjoy the game. Have fun, enjoy the camaraderie, feel the sweat, and have a good time.
I will also include some pointers on what to do during gametime so as not to incur injury or injure your partner.
