SPECIAL (adj) / SPECIALLY (adv)
mean specific, made for a specifc purpose or a designated reason.
e.g. The room was specially designed for LST students.

ESPECIAL (adj) / ESPECIALLY (adv)
- mean exceptional, particular and more outstanding than others.
e.g. Pele was an especially skilled footballer.
- when used as an adj, it is formal.
e.g. This topic is a matter of especial importance.
(more informally termed 'special importance' or 'particular importance')

PARTICULAR (adj) / PARTICULARLY (adv)
- mean 'especially', and the adv form 'particularly' is preceded by a comma when it is used to introduce extra information.
e.g. Hiro likes seafood, particulary shrimp.
