Turkish fighters advanced a barrage of overflights over the islands of the eastern Aegean on Sunday.
Four pairs of Turkish planes that entered the Athens FIR without submitting a flight plan, proceeded late at noon to a barrage of flights over Greek islands and specifically to Farmakonisi 3 times, Agathonisi 2 times, Arkios 3 times, Lipsi 3 times and Virgin.
The first Turkish couple flew over Farmakonisi at an altitude of 2,700 to 8,000 feet and Agathonisi at 11,000 feet at 16:00 p.m.
The second Turkish couple flew over Arkios, Lipsi and again over Lipsi, at 23,000 feet, at 16:04 pm, at 16:05 pm. and at 4:07 p.m. respectively.
The third Turkish couple flew over Farmakonisi at 17,500 feet at 4:14 p.m., Leipzig at 10,000 feet at 4:18 p.m., Arkios at 11,000 feet and 14,000 feet at 4:19 p.m. m. and 16:20 p.m., respectively, and Agathonisi at 12,000 feet at 4:23 p.m.
The fourth Turkish couple flew over Panagia at 32,000 feet at 4:53 p.m.
In all cases, the Turkish aircraft were identified and intercepted by respective Greek fighters, in accordance with international rules on a regular basis.
